Best Management Practices

Best Management Practices (BMPs) are practices that are required by Kentucky law (Kentucky Forest Conservation Act and Agriculture Water Quality Act).  They are practices that are intended to protect water quality when dealing with agricultural and silvicultural operations. They are considered to be “the most effective, practical, and economical means of reducing and preventing water pollution” according to Kentucky Revised Statue 224.71.
