American Basswood

American Basswood

American basswood, also known as American linden, is an important tree for wood and wildlife. It is a medium to large tree, typically growing up to 80 feet tall and two to three feet in diameter. Trees tend to have a long straight trunk that is slightly buttressed near the ground. While basswood is valued for its timber in parts of its range, it is also highly valued for its honey.
