Sweet Gum
Sweetgum (Liquidambar stryciflua) is an important commercial hardwood tree of the southeastern United States. It also known as redgum, sapgum and starleaf-gum. It is a relative of witch-hazel and the only species of Liquidambar in North America, the other three species are native to Asia. Sweetgum is a large deciduous tree that can grow over 100 feet tall and three to five feet in diameter. It is a relatively fast-growing tree that can live 200 to 300 years.
