Invasive species kit return protocol

*Do not return any equipment with leftover herbicide*

  • Remove any leftover debris that may have accumulated in the kit container, especially seeds and/or fruit from the targeted plant species.

  • Record the conditions of the returned equipment and note anything damaged, lost, or discarded on the checklist. This could include clogged sprayer nozzles, used nitrile gloves, scratched safety glasses, and/or chipped hand saws, loppers, and hatchets.

  • Empty the leftover herbicide in the sprayers by pumping the remaining contents away from non-target plants and waterways. Fill the tank halfway with water and repeat this action three times. Rinse out any remaining chemicals still in the tank.

  • Thoroughly rinse the Buckhorn Blasters with water and dispose the contents away from non-target plants and waterways.

  • Remove dirt and debris off the loppers, handsaws, and hatchets with a rag or toothbrush. Thoroughly dry all tools. If rust has developed on the metal, gently scrub it with steel wool and WD-40.
